Where do you deliver?

MERCOL can deliver our silo’s anywhere within the Melbourne metro area. Our dry mortar products can be delivered in bulk bags anywhere on the Eastern Seaboard.

How much does the coloured mortar cost?

We offer 37 different colours of mortar, each of the colours requires different ratio’s of different oxides. Each oxide has a different price. Please check out our Coloured Mortar Chart in the Resources tab and contact us for a quote once you have selected your colours.

Do I need additional insurance to use the silos?

MERCOL has comprehensive Public Liability Insurance.

What are your payment terms?

For new customers our payment terms are COD. We also take credit card payments for the first 8 weeks of a project and we offer a 14 day account for larger projects to credit approved customers.

Will my workforce need an induction/training course?

MERCOL provides comprehensive training on how to use the system, ensuring you get the most out of your investment. A Certificate of Training is issued to all trained personnel. Refresher training is always available free of charge.

How many different mortar colours can you supply?

In addition to grey mortar, we are able to produce 37 different shades of coloured mortar, to match almost any architect specifications or any brick. If we don’t have an exact shade in stock we will work with you to produce a “custom blend”.

How do you guarantee the colour and consistency?

MERCOL dry mortar is produced in a State-of-the-Art Production facility. Our manufacturing facility produces 100 tons of dry mortar a day, meeting the Australian standards. We blend our own dry mortar, core fill and tiler’s screed using high quality constituent materials under rigorously quality controlled conditions.

How will I know what size silo I will need for my project?

Our smallest silo (the Piccolo) is 1m3 and holds 1.2 tons dry = 0.8 m³ wet mortar

Our 3m3 silo holds 4 tons dry = 2.8 m³ wet mortar

Our largest silo (at the moment – we have plans for a few larger sizes) is 6m3 and holds 8 tons dry = 5.6 m³ wet mortar

Can I buy the dry mortar without getting the silo?

Yes – if you would like to use our dry mortar products without using the silo’s, then we can supply our high quality products in either 20kg bags or 1 ton bulk bags and you can mix it yourself on-site. (But we guarantee that once you try the silo’s – you’ll never go back to the old cement mixer!)

How much wet mortar does one ton of dry mortar produce?

When mixed on site, 1 ton of dry silo mortar will produce approximately 0.70 cubic metres of ready to use mortar.

How many bricks can I lay with one ton of dry silo mortar?

One ton of dry MERCOL dry silo mortar is sufficient to lay approximately 700 bricks (the actual number may however vary between 550 and 1000 this depends upon the size of brick, depth of frog, size of perforations, site practice and other factors etc.)
